A healthy male volunteer received 0.1 mg/kg of midazolam intravenously by constant rate (zero-order) infusion on three occasions separated by at least 1 week. The durations of infusion in the three trials were 1 min, 1 hr, and 3 hr. Equations 2 and 3 were fitted to the data points for all three trials simultaneously. Kinetic variables were volume of distribution, 121 L; elimination half-life, 2.4 hr; clearance, 584 ml/min.
