Annual Meeting Questions

Who can attend the annual meeting?
The ACNP Annual Meeting is a closed meeting, meaning that only ACNP members and their invited guests may attend.

How do I invite a guest?

The quickest and most efficient way to invite a guest to the Annual Meeting is to send an email to the ACNP Executive Office with the name and email address of your guest. The Annual Meeting registration materials will then be forwarded to your guest.

No. The ACNP does not provide lists of its members or meeting attendees.

Do I have to be registered before I can get a hotel room?

Non-members must be registered before getting a hotel room.  Please refer to your meeting registration packet.  ACNP members may get a hotel room as soon as they receive the meeting registration packet.

Can I register online?

Yes. Members may log-in to the members' only section of the website to register; non-members may also register online, but must have an invitation from an ACNP member prior to doing so.

Can corporate representatives invite someone to attend the Annual Meeting?

Corporate Representatives are not permitted to invite scientific guests or Trainees, nor are they allowed to sponsor posters.

I have the Invited Guest privilege. May I invite more than one person to the Annual Meeting?

A member can invite one Invited Guest or one Trainee.  If you have received such an invitation, you may register under the Invited Guest category.

I have a sponsor for my poster. Do I need an invitation to the Annual Meeting?

Yes.  In addition to having a sponsor for your poster, you must have an invitation to attend the Annual Meeting (this may or may not be the same individual.)  Scientific members of the College are allowed to issue an invitation to only one guest.  If you have received such an invitation, you may register under the Invited Guest category.

Are CMEs available?

Yes.  CME credits are available to scientific registrants for $40.

I am a member of the ACNP. Do my dues have to be paid before I can register?

Yes.

Are abstracts published and citable?

Abstracts for the 2010 meeting will be published in Neuropsychopharmacology.  Abstracts from 2007-2009 are non-archival.

What does the registration fee include?

Meeting refreshment breaks (Sunday-Thursday), Luncheons (Monday-Thursday), Opening Reception, admission to posters sessions/receptions, meeting program book, abstracts online, as well as access to all scientific sessions.

What is a trainee?

A trainee is a person in a training position & not a full time, permanent position. A trainee can be a M.D., Ph.D., Post-doctoral fellow, Resident, or Research Fellow. Trainees have all the rights and privileges of invited guests. A letter from your training director verifying your status must accompany this form.

What is an accompanying person?
A spouse, relative, or significant other who accompanies an attendee. An Accompanying Person may only attend the social functions of the meeting, which includes the morning breaks, lunches and receptions. You must pay the accompanying person fee to attend the social functions.  The only scientific session open to the accompanying persons are the Poster sessions.

Do I need a sponsor for my poster?
All non-members must have a sponsor for their poster.  In addition to having a poster sponsor, non-members must have an invitation to the Annual Meeting from a member.

What is the invitation bank?
Members who are not using their invited guest privilege may donate their meeting invitation to the invitation bank.  Other members, who may be looking for an invitation for a young colleague, may then use one of those donated invitations. In order to qualify for an invitation from the bank, the invitee must be no more than fifteen (15) years beyond his/her most recent degree (M.D., Ph.D., or comparable).

I am a member.  How do I donate my invited guest privilege to the invitation bank?
Send an email or fax to the ACNP Executive Office saying you wish to donate your invited guest privilege to the invitation bank.  If you should decide to invite a guest after donating your invitation, the Executive Office staff will pull that invitation from the bank.  Donations are for the current Annual Meeting only.

Membership in the ACNP is by nomination only.  You must be nominated by an eligible ACNP member.

Which ACNP members are eligible to nominate?

Members who have held Member status 3 or more years, Fellows, Life Fellows and Life Members.

You will need to ask the member.

Can an eligible ACNP member nominate more than one person for membership?
Yes.  However, a member can nominate only one person per category of membership (Associate, Regular Scientific, Foreign Corresponding Fellow, or Promotion) per calendar year.

How are nomination letters submitted?
Nomination letters must be submitted on-line with the nomination package.

Can I save my nomination submission and access it later?
No.  You must have all documents ready before starting the submission process.  Submissions cannot be saved and accessed later for completion.

You may contact the ACNP Executive office and request this information at acnp@acnp.org  The Executive Office can provide the information housed in its database, though can not guarantee that the information is complete.

Members are welcome to submit their ideas for articles as noted on the back of the Bulletin. As well, you may submit announcements for relevant meetings or job postings. Please note that all articles or items are posted at the discretion of the executive director.
